Melissa x Zaha Hadid

Melissa Shoes have teamed up with world renowned architect Zaha Hadid and together created beautiful, utilitarian works of (affordable) art for the feet. Melissa shoes are known for their "vegan, eco-friendly" footwear but unfortunately, to me anyway, the use of PVC tells me differently. Fortunately for me, though, I have no qualms about having the pores of my feet absorb PVC carcinogens when they sweat... haaaa... ....

Her shoes are made of an extremely flexible PVC called MELFLEX which was developed in their laboratories. Currently, they're on a mission encouraging other businesses to use their newly created plastics.

The making of the four meter long mock-up of the shoe.

Melissa has also collaborated with Vivienne Westwood (!), Karim Rashid, Alexandre Herchovitch, J. Maskrey, and many others.

What's New?

Heeeeey. So I'm gearing up for school and thus haven't had time to do shit on here-- I know, more excuses. But really, what's new? Ha. Here's more footage from my trip to keep ya'all entertained. I promise more substantial posts soon!

Pineapple, mango, banana!

We'd buy fruit from this lady who'd walk up and down the beach all fucking day in the heat workin' what she's got. Homegirl's got stamina. And pineapple-cutting skills.

Please check out the Mini Travel Series that Ray and I did whilst traveling around China, HK, and Vietnam if you haven't already!

I'M BACK

Monotonix outside the venue... scantily clad... performing on a drum... in the air, now that's drama (image via MFNW)

Okay, homegirl's been out boozin' and usin' for the past couple months trying to live up the last moments of summer before school starts. Now I'm back with sweet material to share. I'm going to try to re-vamp this site a little, so in the meantime check out footage of the TBA Festival and MusicFestNW. Just blips of a two-week long binge of music and performing arts.

Monotonix @ The Satyricon (fucking chaotic!)

More of this show here and here. Totally worth watching.

Also attended No Age, Battles, Cool Kids, Deerhunter, Dyme Def, Black Elk, The Joggers, Trans AM, Polvo. Daaamn.

My footage of his performance was lame so here's one from The New Museum in NY.

I think we all know which performance was better.
