Phu Quoc

After spending a couple days in Saigon Raymond and I took a ferry out to a beautiful Vietnamese island called Phu Quoc and spent a few days lounging around there. I guess it's closer to Cambodia than Vietnam. We saw all sorts of sea life.

Note: Ray and I were inebriated the whole way through.

Our stay in sunny paradise was way too short, BUT is now extended and relocated. We just arrived to Nha Trang today, a coastal town that is easily one of the the world's most beautiful places. You'll be hearing from us again soon. Cheers.

Last Days of China & Hong Kong

Hey guys, Raymond and I are now reporting from Saigon. We arrived yesterday and are leaving tomorrow for the islands, man. We were rudely awakened this morning by construction work that sounded literally like it was happening at less than 3 yards from our room. To make up for lack of rest we decided to spend the latter half of our day lounging and getting to work on our videos. Here are some from the our last days in China and HK.

We finally made it to the last leg of our China excursion, thank god. Not only was our China tour over but we finally reunited with our dear dear friend Kyle from back home!

Kyle's been living in HK for over 3 months now so he gladly obliged to be our tour guide for the short time we were there.  The clip shows us going through Lamma Island (a short 20 min ferry ride from HK) viewing the local cuisina and finding a place that sold booze!  The people were so much laid back and the food was definitely a lot fresher than anything you could find on the Mainland.  We genuinely enjoyed our stay there but most of all we were more relieved to see a familiar face, reminding us a little of the home we are temporarily leaving behind.

Beijing and Xi'an!

The past few days we've been in Beijing and Xi'an. We have a few clips of our outings but would like to apologize for our video's lack of excitement. We've been following a tour and our expectations have NOT been met at all! Tours are horrible, don't ever depend on them for a good time!

Note: Expressionless faces of Beijing girls "having fun". Also, the end clip was originally a dance to a tango remix of Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On, but the sound was not working on my computer, ugh!

With what little free time we had we decided to explore Beijing's "thrilling" nightlife. Our tour guide was nice enough to drop us off in the drinking district; we ended up meeting some peeps from the Netherlands who were able to point us in the right direction for some gak. Let's just say that our night ended at some crazy posh club with some crazy, crazy man cussing and spitting in our faces. 

The Great Wall was fabulous. Reaching the top invigorated us more than we had expected. The view was breathtaking and to have had the opportunity to visit a world wonder is beyond words.

Our next stop was Xi'an. The city of Xi'an is most famous for their Terra Cotta Warriors (7,000 have been found buried underneath the city!) and their hand-crafted noodles. Our spirits were quickly uplifted upon arriving to a more friendly and less developed and polluted locale. 

We're currently in Wuxi, tomorrow we're heading to Shanghai and then Hong Kong the day after. We'll be meeting up with our great friend, Kyle, and we'll have some great footage of our journey in the East by then.

Happy 4th of July, we're sad we can't be in the States to celebrate.

Greetings from Beijing!

We've made it, finally. Our trip started early in the morn' on Friday-- 6AM to be exact. We were hungover with about two or three hours of sleep under our belts, and slowly but surely made our way to San Fran. Got on another plane to Hong Kong... but little did we know, that once we arrived we had missed our connecting flight to Beijing due to a minor delay we had in SF. Here's how that went down:

Stewardess: You missed your flight to Beijing and the next available flight is tomorrow morning.

Us: But... we are trying to catch a tour tomorrow. Do we have any other alternatives?

Stewardess: Well, do you have visas here?

Us: No. Because our final destination is Vietnam.

Stewardess: Oh, so you guys are Vietnamese citizens? You are more than welcome to sleep in the airport lounge until your departure tomorrow morning.

Us: No, no we're American citizens. You need to accommodate us for your lack of preparation.

Stewardess: OH, you're Americans. You'll each get your own room at the airport hotel.

Note: Watch our morale sloooowly decrease the longer we travel.

We each got our own rooms. And eventually made it to Beijing.

So, there won't be any more updates for a few days. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get all my schoolwork completed before the term ended and I'm only now beginning to wrap it all up. So, rather than spending time blogging I need to be homeworking!

Also! Big news. My bestest Ray and I (and the fam) will be leaving this Friday for our long awaited trip to China/Hong Kong/Vietnam. We will be gone from the 27th of this month to July 25th. Don't fret though, my lovelies, because we will be documenting our adventures and posting them as often as we can! The Raymond and Khathy Mini Travel Series will include video-recordings along with photographs of all the wonders of our excursions in the East. So stay tuned (all three of you)!
